Firstly apologies for not responding to your comments along the way.  Internet time is so restricted I can only do the basics just now More from me (Sue) … about time David got his finger out and posted something methinks! When we left the village (by tractor cart again) We rejoined our coach for the drive to Agra where we stopped for lunch al fresco at a converted manor house (actually it was the most mediocre meal of the trip so far). I have eaten curry for every meal (including breakfast) since we arrived and I'm not tired of it yet ! Strangely, the food is all pretty mild and I'm not sure if that's the regional 'norm' or whether the hotels and lodges were 'dumbing it down' for the tourists. Our guide spotted me adding a couple of chillis to my plate and thereafter I got special meals from the chef … wonderfully spicy (but not OTT hot) This morning we visited the Glass Palace. Olavipe Homestay, Backwaters, Kerala

We arrived mid morning Saturday at Olavipe and were greeted by our Hostess Sumy and her son Anthony.    Their property is a heritage home built in the 1880s by Anthony's Great Great Grandfather (Not sure if that's enough Greats).    Anthony's father was one of 12 children and he inherited the property.   Following his death last year Sumi, and now Anthony are running it for a few months per year as a homestay/guest house. The Gate House (which has two guest bedrooms) The main house building Traditional style meals are served round the large family dining table with our hosts and other visitors.   There is a lot of coconut used in Kerala cooking and we're certainly trying some unusual dishes.    We've had steamed plantains with fresh grated coconut and honey, dark and white rice boiled in hollow bamboo poles so its squeezed out like rice sausages, all manner of pickles and fruits and fish of course.   Most of the veggie ingredie...

Farewell, Mumbai

When David checked in online for our BA flights he found that all the window seats had been taken (apparently) which was disappointing Then when we checked our bags at the airport we were given different seats to those offered online and we were told the plane had been changed (to a larger one we believe) but still we were given one aisle and one end of centre row seats. David suggested upgrading but then found out that the cost was an additional £400 each so changed his mind rather hastily. I said what a shame it was that we weren't getting good seats, unlike on our outward journey which was excellent and the very nice young man winked and said 'I'll see what I can do' ... lo & behold we got window and adjoining seat! I was able to take photos as we departed showing just how close the slums are to the runways at the airport ... There were so many spare seats in our Premium Economy section that we were able to spread out and we had a really great flight back.    ...
